Tank setup tips
-
Footprint first. A 60 cm (2 ft) tank gives room for full-speed schooling.
-
Cover and lanes. Use tall stems or driftwood at the back and open swimming space at the front.
-
Gentle flow. A hang-on-back or small canister turning the tank 5–6 times per hour keeps oxygen high without blasting juveniles.
-
Dim corners. Floating plants like Salvinia calm the barbs and pop the green iridescence.
Compatible neighbors
-
Similar-paced fish: Zebra Danios, Cherry Barbs, Harlequin Rasboras
-
Bottom dwellers: Panda Corydoras, Kuhli Loaches
-
Skip long-fin species: Fancy Guppies, Bettas, Angelfish
Feeding routine
Offer two small meals daily. Rotate a high-protein micro-pellet with a spirulina-rich flake, then give frozen brine shrimp twice a week for color. Remove uneaten food after 90 seconds to keep water clear.
